Why the PPSU had to be corona treated before the LSR Silicone overmolding with PPSU?
PPSU which is short for Polyphenylene sulfone resins , PPSU is defined for now as one of the most environmently-friendly unshaped thermal plastics which features with high grade transparency , high hydrolytic, high temperature tolerance. PPSU withstand repetitive steam sterilization and is widely applied on PPSU made baby milk bottles . Now the global top quality made PPSU brands are BASF,Solvay,PPSU R-5000,PPSU R-5500,PPSU R-5600,R-5800 R-7400.
Silicone with PPSU milk bottle is made from a ready PPSU mouth join with a silicone parts . Which the bond take place from a LSR Silicone with PPSU in injection moulding . Germany BASF PPSU/P3010 or American Solvay PPSU ,R-5000 are suitable in low and medium temperature to bond with platinum system LSR Silicone . As PPSU is very tricky for the bond .
So the pretreatment of PPSU is very important , PPSU had to be corona treated or flame treated .Speaking of the corona treatment, PC, PA, PP these material once corona treated ,is also become easy to bond with PPSU after the primer coating . The failure rate dropped sharply .
