Silicone Adhesive Properties

The Young's modulus of general paper is comparable to the Young's modulus of most polymer materials in the transition temperature zone (transition temperature zone from glassy state to highly elastic state). If a highly elastic (rubber) adhesive is applied to the surface of the paper, the surface will bulge; if a glassy adhesive is used, the surface will be concave. Let's take a look at the characteristics of silicone adhesives.
1. Good adhesion
If you choose a non-aqueous solvent (organic solvent) adhesive or use a hot melt adhesive and a solvent-free adhesive, you don't have to worry about the paper wrinkling. Paper made of plant fibers is easier to bond to each other. Generally, cheap and easy-to-handle water-based adhesives are used, such as starch, glue, casein and polyvinyl alcohol aqueous solutions or polyvinyl acetate, styrene-butadiene rubber, nitrile rubber and chloroprene rubber emulsions. EVA hot melt adhesive or polyvinyl acetate solvent-based adhesive can also be used to quickly bond or treat the paper surface.
2. Wide application
A re-moistened activated adhesive applied to the back of stamps, the main component of which is usually a partial saponification of polyvinyl alcohol. The pre-coated pressure-sensitive adhesive for envelope sealing is generally an acrylic copolymer pressure-sensitive adhesive, while the pressure-sensitive adhesive for paper bags is usually a solution of natural or synthetic rubber. The contact adhesive used for paper is mainly composed of chloroprene rubber. The bonding of paper and its materials is complicated, and the appropriate adhesive should be selected according to the surface characteristics of various materials. The bonding of plant fiber paper with hydrophilic glass paper, stone, cement, and wood can be selected from aqueous solutions of starch and polyvinyl alcohol. The bonding of paper with polyvinyl chloride, natural rubber, synthetic rubber, polystyrene, foamed polymer materials, synthetic paper, glass and metal, etc., copolymers, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers, polyacrylates, synthetic rubber, natural rubber, recycled rubber and other emulsion or solvent-based adhesives.
In short, the characteristics of silicone adhesives are good adhesion and wide application. Non-natural fiber paper or natural fiber processed paper with surface coating treatment is difficult to bond. At this time, suitable silane coupling agents (such as vinyl triethoxysilane and 7-aminopropyl triethoxysilane, etc.) and organosilicon peroxide silanes can be selected according to different paper types. The paper surface is pretreated with compounds (such as vinyl tri-tert-butyl peroxysilane, etc.) and alkyl titanates (such as butyl titanate and isopropyl titanate, etc.).
